Clarion Mounting Medium -8 X 250 ml
Description:
ClariØn Mounting Medium (Permanent environmentally safe mounting medium for general histology & cytology use)
Presentation:
ClariØn is a new standard in permanent mounting media. It is a mounting medium designed for the permanent preservation of immunohistochemical organic insoluble chromogen substrates such as diaminobenzidine (DAB), Vega Red, New Fuchsin, and any other organic solvent compatible chromogen substrates on the tissue sections. ClariØn can be used for histology and cytology applications using manual and automated coverslipping techniques.
ClariØn is an environmentally responsible product containing no toluene, xylene, benzene or petroleum pollutants. This new mounting medium is formulated with non-hazardous copolymers having high tenacity to glass and exhibiting remarkable non-yellowing and non-cracking characteristics. Specimens mounted with ClariØn can be considered permanent preparations and should last indefinitely.
ClariØn has a refractive index (nD) of 1.473. Unlike many available mounting media, ClariØn will not loose its refractive index as a consequence of solvent evaporation. This phenomenon is very commonly found in toluene- and xylene-based mounting media due to the fact that the solvent is mainly responsible for the refractive index of the mounting media. ClariØn is designed with a copolymer formulation stable to solvent evaporation. This assures its outstanding optical character and the absence of solvent evaporation spaces in the specimens upon extended storage.
ClariØn is compatible with xylene, toluene, and HemoDe (limonene), and with all common xylene substitutes of petroleum origin. In summary, the advantages of ClariØn are:
·It produces permanently mounted specimens.
·It is an environmentally safe, non-toxic, non-flammable mounting medium.
·It is a universal mounting medium.
·It has excellent optical quality.
·It is cost effective.
Specificity:
ClariØn is a state-of-the-art permanent organic mounting medium. To assure excellent optical quality, ClariØn has a refractive index of nD=1.473. ClariØn is an environmentally responsible product made using Limolene as a solvent instead of toluene or other petroleum pollutants. It is formulated with non-hazardous copolymers having high tenacity to glass and exhibiting remarkable non-yellowing and non-cracking characteristics. Specimens mounted with ClariØn can be considered permanent preparations and should last indefinitely. Unlike toluene- and xylene-based mounting media, which lose their refractive index as their solvents evaporate, ClariØn is designed with a copolymer formulation with a refractive index stable to solvent evaporation. This assures its outstanding optical characteristics upon extended storage. ClariØn is compatible with xylene, toluene, Hemo-De (limonene), and with all common xylene substitutes of petroleum origin. It can be used for both histology as well as cytology applications using manual and automated coverslipping techniques.
Storage:
Store at room temperature away from flame. Keep the cap tightened. Keep away from moisture.

Notes:
Step by Step Instructions: Before using this product, open the adjustable tip to achieve the desired optimal flow rate of the mounting medium. Place the bottle of ClariØn upside down in a cup or waste bottle. This step eliminates the introduction of air bubbles into the medium.
1. Dehydrate the tissue sections using graded alcohols and Lemosol, toluene, xylene or any other clearing agent.
2. Place the slides on a horizontal surface and apply two small drops of ClariØn to the tissue sections.
3. Carefully apply coverslip on top of the ClariØn and let the medium spread evenly.
4. Place the slides on the benchtop horizontally for drying. Drying times vary corresponding to the humidity and temperature. Slides can be placed in the oven set at 70-80°C for 15-30 min.
5. Remove the slides from the oven and allow them to cool to room temperature. The slides are now ready for microscopic visualization.
Please note: It was found that some particular tissue sections, especially gastrointestinal sections or necrotic areas on the sections, have a significant number of microscopic air bubbles when ClariØn is not completely dry. Thorough drying of the sections coverslipped with ClariØn helps to reduce this limitation.
Removal of ClariØn: When required, coverslips mounted on ClariØn may be completely removed. Immerse slides in Lemosol, toluene or xylene and occasionally agitate the slides to assist the removal of the coverslip and the ClariØn layer. Repeat this procedure until the coverslip and the medium are removed.
Since ClariØn is a laboratory reagent, we advise that it should be handled with good laboratory practices. As a part of good industrial and personal hygiene and as a safety procedure, avoid all unnecessary exposure to ClariØn and ensure prompt removal from skin and clothing.
Do not drink or use near food. Keep away from children. Keep away from open flame or heat source.
